Who goes up gets to come down! Who goes down must come up.

Go outside and ride your bike!

Discover the sort of outlier you are and then have the courage to be that outlier.

We sometimes live our lives as if whatever is not required is forbidden. Live, instead, as if whatever is not forbidden is allowed.

Time is mileage.

Zero Tolerance for Anomalies: If you notice that something is off, do not ignore it. Instead persist until you resolve the anomaly.

Take pride in riding steep climbs, but no shame for walking them.

It's more satisfying to maintain something old than to buy something new. It’s more satisfying to maintain something yourself than to pay someone else to do it.

Be careful of temporary solutions. If they're good enough they might become permanent.

Be wary of roads with "hill" or "mountain" in their names.

The path you're on is not the only one going to your destination. If the path you're on isn't working well, look for another.

Setting up a campsite is a lot more work than checking in to a motel.

It's a luxury to walk to dinner after riding for several hours.

If you want to have room for dessert, skip the starch with the main course.

When pulling off to the side of the road, be sure to get away from the road.

If, while waiting for a train, there is an earlier train departing for your destination,
get on that train!

Resist the urge to work harder on a long steep climb. The slower you can go the more likely you will make it to the top without needing to walk. (credit to Tom Reingold for inspiration)
