Day 52: August 26, 2024 - Atlantic City, WY, to Jeffrey City, WY

Start: Atlantic City, WY
End: Jeffrey City, WY
Miles: 72.0
Feet climbing per mile: 50
Record of the day's ride: https://ridewithgps.com/trips/215503854

Through the night there was heavy rain and some hail. I slept in until the air warmed some, and then enjoyed the breakfast Wild Bill had prepared for me.

Before leaving Atlantic City I stopped at the Desert Spring General Store to buy some snacks.

The exit from Atlantic City was just brutal as the entrance. More than once I asked a driver passing by for a ride but was unable to get one. I thought that I should have asked the owner of the Desert Spring General Store for a ride.

Shortly after entering the main road I was stopped because of construction, but one of the workers told me to proceed. I enjoyed a fast descent of more than ten miles with beautiful scenery and without any traffic whatsoever.

I was surprised to see a lone oil rig.

Late in the day I was feeling weak and thought I might need to hitch a ride to my destination, but then I had a second wind.

I spent the night at the Green Mountain Motel. Although the outside was in terrible shape, the room itself was ok.

I had dinner at the Split Rock Bar & Cafe, which allowed smoking except in the no-smoking area.

I had planned to have one or even two rest days in Jeffrey City, but because there was no convenience store and no alternative to the Split Rock Bar & Cafe, I decided I would continue to Rawlins the next day.
